Field Trip: Wood River Day Use and Rocky Point

  • Meeting Place TBD 10 George Nurse Way Klamath Falls, OR, 97601 United States (map)

We'll carpool and walk through a couple of the Klamath Basin's birding hotspots. Wood River Day Use Area near Fort Klamath has riparian habitat and fall colors. On an October trip, we may catch some late migrant songbirds along with resident species.

Good finds in past Octobers include Ruffed Grouse, Northern Pygmy-Owl, Varied Thrush, and Black-throated Gray Warbler. The area has paved paths and boardwalks.

Rocky Point on Upper Klamath Lake should feature migrant waterfowl as well as resident forest and riparian species. Other stops may be added depending on conditions. If you would like to join the trip, please email Kevin Spencer at rriparia@charter.net for meeting time and location.
